Watching the news the other day, I was impacted by a story of day to day citizens fighting the high inflation rates in their country, where the limit of daily withdrawal at a bank is only $40AUD . The bank queue went on forever... This is today in Zimbabwe.
And here we are living through some financial strain however does not even begin to compare with what our neighbours are going through. This story showed me perspective that is for sure. Even the newsreaders had a shocked look on their faces when the story ended.
The citizens of the Western world are caught up in a bubble, and how privileged are we? Yet do we reach out to others who are more needy? Here are some ideas if you feel the need to contribute. I know doing this makes me feels great and more humble as I make a small difference:
- Donate your time and volunteer at a nearby nursing home
- Give to Charity, even $10 will make a difference
- Sponsor a child through World Vision, and watch your sponsored child grow
- Get behind worthy causes, breast cancer awareness, fun runs for charity
- Get behind our drive to give Children in Chad an education (UNHCR) at: http://www.clickalifecoach.com/page.aspx?pageID=925
- De-clutter your un-wanted items of clothing and furniture and give to local charity.
- (many many more ideas....)
Contribution can come in so many ways, its important to give, no matter how small it all counts when you know the power of one!
